This 25-page learning resource includes four non-fiction reading comprehension passages on topics related to St. Patrick’s Day. Each non-fiction reading passage includes a written-response comprehension check (two options included: one full page of ten questions or questions spread amongst two pages for more writing space), as well as a bubble map graphic organizer. The included bubble map graphic organizers can be used to practice the skill of main idea and key details or to organize information learned about each topic. Also included are links to videos about St. Patrick’s Day and Ireland, as well as links to Irish songs and songs from popular Irish musicians. A table of contents and answer key is included.
These reading comprehension passages can be used in a variety of settings – whole group, small group, or independent work. The passages can also be used without the comprehension checks if desired. This resource is intended for Second Grade and Third Grade. Each reading passage will engage and inform your students about St. Patrick’s Day while also allowing your students to practice reading comprehension skills!
